Harlow’s MP, Robert Halfon, rose on the floor of the House of Commons to congratulate the Harlow branch of the Royal British Legion which he said is “supported by thousands of local residents” adding that “they do so much to keep the light of remembrance strong in our town and to support our veterans”.
He asked the Minister to set out “what steps the Government are taking - working with local authorities - to support the Royal British Legion, especially when clubs face difficulties with maintenance and capital building costs with older premises” and offered an invitation to the Minister to visit the Harlow branch, based on Latton Common.
The Veterans Minister, Leo Docherty MP, a veteran himself, explained that the Government is investing millions every year into the British Legion and said that he would be very pleased to join Mr Halfon on a visit to the Harlow branch to meet with Harlow veterans and see the work the branch does.
