Harlow’s Member of Parliament, Robert Halfon, had joined Harlow Chinese Community Centre to usher in the Year of the Dragon.
Commenting on the event, Mr Halfon said: “I would like to begin by wishing everybody in the Harlow Chinese community a very Happy New Year, and good fortune and opportunities in the Year of the Dragon! I was honoured to be invited to the Harlow Chinese Community Centre again this weekend to celebrate the New Year. I have attended this celebration since 2011 and it is a highlight of the year for me.
“It was particularly impressive to see the lion dances and the magnificent costumes this year, as well as the remarkable performances from members of the community. The Chinese Community are an integral part of Harlow - from cooking events to ping pong coaching and everything in between, the Harlow Chinese Community have been champions of our town since they opened their doors in 1999.
“I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the Harlow Chinese Community Centre for inviting me to this momentous festivity, it was a great honour to take part in ushering in the New Year, the Year of the Dragon. I encourage everybody to go and visit the community centre and meet the wonderful members.”
