This week is National Careers Week 2023! ๐ทโโ๏ธ ๐ฉโโ๏ธ ๐จโ๐ ๐จโ๐ ๐ฎโโ๏ธ
Making decisions about your future career can seem overwhelming, but National Careers Week is a great time to start thinking about it. I see careers advice as the first rung on a ladder of opportunity, helping everyone to achieve their full potential.
High-quality careers guidance is essential in connecting young people to their aspirations and equipping them with the support they need to climb the ladder of opportunity, and itโs great to see the Careers Enterprise Compnay really emphasise the importance of skills for this.
I am pleased that pupils can shape their schoolโs careers programme in a way that reflects both their own career needs and that of the local and national labour market - meeting the needs of our economy and providing a full range of skilled workers relies on strong careers advice and guidance.
Careers guidance is fundamental in giving people the right tools to access better qualifications, skills, training and retraining. We want to ensure that those applying for further education have clear information and support to make informed decisions.
Thatโs why we are supporting schools to deliver top quality careers guidance, as well as developing a range of free career advice tools, creating a real pathway for pupils to get the skills they need for great jobs in the future.
