Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, has unveiled the winner of local MP Robert Halfon’s annual Christmas Card Competition. Mr Halfon met Mr Speaker in the House of Commons to present the winning design of the competition.
Commenting on the competition and the winning designs, Mr Halfon said, “I received over 100 wonderful entries this year, all featuring wonderful Christmas trees inspired by places in Harlow and the villages. It was incredibly difficult to narrow it down to just one winner and four runners up - all of which are featured in my Christmas card this year.
“I am delighted to announce that Jayden from Year 5 at Longwood Primary Academy has been crowned the overall winner, taking pride of place on the front of my Christmas cards. Jayden designed an incredible card with a beautiful Christmas tree, decorated with ornaments inspired by places in Harlow and the villages. Congratulations to Jayden!
“I must also congratulate Eros and Eryka in Year 6 and Year 3 respectively at St Luke’s Catholic Academy, and Benjamin and Naomi from Year 6 and Year 5 respectively at Longwood Primary Academy, who have all been named as runners up this year. Their fabulous designs are on the inside cover of my Christmas card this year.
“I would like to thank everybody who submitted a design to this year’s competition, including all of the parents, grandparents and teachers who helped the children. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish everybody in Harlow a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year 2024.”
