Local MP, Robert Halfon, has praised two local schools after his most recent constituency visits. Friday 24th March 2023 saw Robert visit Longwood Academy and Jerounds Primary School in Harlow, as well as a special visit to meet the award-winning Namaste Volunteers at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
Up first was a visit to Longwood Primary Academy to meet with students in Year 6. Robert was quizzed on life as an MP and got to meet the student advocates, elected by their peers to represent them in school.
The second port of call was Jerounds Primary School for a tour of their school library. Filled with books for all ages and outstanding and colourful displays encouraging children to read, Robert was impressed by the enthusiastic students, including the Head Boy, who showed him around their library.
Robert ended the day with a visit to Princess Alexandra Hospital to meet the Compassionate Care Volunteers who provide vital support services to patients across the hospital. Recently recognised by the Helpforce Champion Awards, the Compassionate Care volunteers are helping to make our local hospital the best it can be.
Commenting on his visits, Robert said, “I am proud to call Harlow my home and I am never happier than when I am out and about meeting local people and seeing the fantastic things going on across our town.
“I was blown away by my visits to Longwood and Jerounds primary schools - the children I met were passionate and enthusiastic about learning, and the teachers and support staff were dedicated to giving Harlow young people the best start in life.”
“Everybody in the NHS works tirelessly and selflessly to provide the best possible care for their patients. I was inspired by the Compassionate Care Volunteers during my visit to see them at Princess Alexandra Hospital who give their time to support patients and make their time in hospital as smooth and stress-free as possible.”
